Research

Student Researcher under Dr. Jonathan Gruber and Dr. Rena Conti (June 2021 - Present)

I'm currently working with Dr. Rena Conti of Boston University, extracting and analyzing 500+ COVID vaccine clinical trial statistics on location, vaccine platforms, agreements, etc. I researched Securities and Exchange Commission company filings to investigate the impacts of compulsory licensing, manufacturing contracts, and IP agreements on COVID vaccine development. Our research will be published in the pending paper, “The role of intellectual property protections in the development of COVID-19 vaccines”.

I'm also working with Dr. Jonathan Gruber of MIT to update the 7th Edition of Public Finance and Public Policy textbook, the most-used public finance textbook in America. In a separate project, I analyzed and compiled health insurance and retirement savings statistics of American workers.

Harvard International Economics Essay Contest (August 2020 - December 2020)

Throughout the latter half of 2020, I conducted a meta-analysis and survey of existing research literature on the groupthink phenomenon, a subject within behavioral economics that occurs when the desire of harmony within a group overpowers standard reason and rational decision making. I summarized my findings in an essay: "The Big Brother Watching Us Today: Groupthink”.

Wharton Global High School Investment Competition (August 2020 - December 2020)

Alongside my teammates over the course of ten weeks, I developed our team’s investment strategy, COMPASS, after reaching out to real-life trading experts and competing with a stock market simulator.

International Leadership Foundation Asian-American Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Contest (August 2019 - December 2019)

To explore the nexus of environmental sustainability and entrepreneurship, my teammates and I developed the business plan for an eco-friendly store application, EconomEco!

Academic Programs

University of Pennsylvania’s Management & Technology Summer Institute (Summer 2021)

At M&TSI, I was taught by Penn’s Wharton and SEAS professors alongside 90 students about various topics at the intersection between business, technology, and entrepreneurship. I studied Harvard Business School company case studies (LinkedIn, Dropbox, IDEO, etc.), attended seminars with entrepreneurs (Strella Biotech, Niantic, Lia, etc.), and developed my own product prototypes with Arduino circuits. After self-teaching basic C++, I created the circuit prototype, developed the website, and prepared the executive summary for our product: FulPillment, a synced app and pillbox duo that automatically keeps track of pill-taking and reminds the user to take/reorder them.

University of Pennsylvania’s Future of the Business World Program (Summer 2020)

At FBW, beyond engaging lessons with Penn faculty like Dr. Mauro Guillen, I also was an active participant in the Global Youth Meet-Up, participating in activities and competitions in the virtual campus space like the Stock Market Challenge: Company Analysis and Ethics (2nd), Philadelphia Scavenger Hunt Group Challenge (1st), and Innovation Generation Group Challenge (2nd).

Here is a parody of “Riptide” by Vance Joy that I wrote about alpha and beta for the Financial Literary Flex Challenge!

Other

Teaching Assistant at the Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Academy (July 2020 - August 2020)

At AoPS, I taught middle and high school students alongside professors, preparing them for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC). As a TA, I wrote math questions for students, administered competitions, and provided individual assistance.

Congressman Jamie Raskin’s Democracy Summer Fellowship (June 2019 - July 2019)

At Democracy Summer, I lobbied in Congress for bipartisan legislation on policies including gun control and paid internships after conducting case studies on their benefits and harms. I also canvassed for votes in various communities across Maryland and Virginia.
